What is Consumer Claim | Insurance glossary by upcover

A Consumer Claim is a claim for compensation made by an end consumer or user of a product for personal injury, illness, death, or property damage arising from defects in that product. Consumer claims may be brought under the Australian Consumer Law, common law negligence, or breach of contract. Products liability insurance responds to consumer claims by indemnifying the insured against their legal liability and providing defence costs.
