Importer Liability

Importer Liability refers to the legal responsibility of entities that import products into Australia for personal injury or property damage caused by defects in those products. Under the Australian Consumer Law, where the manufacturer is not located in Australia, the importer assumes the same liability as a manufacturer. This means importers may be held strictly liable for safety defects in imported products, regardless of fault.
