What is Private Label Product | Insurance glossary by upcover

A Private Label Product is a product manufactured or produced by one company but sold under the brand name or trademark of another company, typically a retailer or distributor. In products liability, the brand owner of a private label product may be held liable as if they were the manufacturer, even though they did not actually produce the product. This creates significant liability exposure for retailers and distributors of private label goods.
